The section of the museum dedicated to agricultural work illustrates how cereal cultivation, vine cultivation and olive cultivation were carried out in the past, and documents the evolution of tools and techniques for working the land, the use of animals and means of transport used by farmers in agricultural work.
The exhibition, constructed as in the other museum sections with explanatory texts, period photographs and drawings, is enriched in this case by material finds. In fact, numerous work tools are on display in the section, including some beautiful examples of the iron plows that began to be used in the Morano countryside starting from the 1950s.
In fact, before the Second World War, agricultural work here, as in almost all of Calabria, was entrusted, mainly if not exclusively, to the hands of farmers. The tools and techniques for cultivating the land were and remained primordial and archaic for a long time.
In the 1930s the use of some more modern tool developed only within some larger companies: for example, a plow with a front end was used in the Rizzo family company in the Fineta area; in the Rocco family’s company, in the Foce district, the Casalese type grubber, the row seeder, the cotton gin, etc. were in use.
